Highly Sensitive
I had just started playing with the idea “what if everything you thought was wrong with you, is actually what is right with you?” when I came across research on Highly Sensitive People.
High sensitivity (or the more clinical Sensory Processing Sensitivity) is a genetically influenced trait that occurs in 15-20% of the population and over 100 species.
Around the same time, I felt this pull to photograph orchids. In one of those beautiful serendipitous moments life sometimes sends our way, I discovered researchers represent a person’s level of SPS to flowers - with orchids representing HSPs.
So what happens if you lean into your sensitivity? What if it was a gift, not a weakness?
This collection explores those questions.
