Maya

In this series, I explore the global issue of vanishing bees and our blindness to perceive their critical role in nature and our harmful impact on their ecosystems. With an abstract style, I work with mixed-media and acrylic paint, to create scenes that show/veil what is hidden from our perception, in this case, the flying routes of bees and their pollination work. The Maya series was born in response to an invitation from Taller Balam to participate in the collective exhibition "Who will see the last bees?", an invitation to reflect on climate change and the individual vs. the collective. With the works of the 20 participating artists, a single artwork was created, open to be reorganized by the gallery visitors.
