MILLEFIORI COLLECTION
Italian for a thousand flowers, Millefiori embraces the artist’s love of flowers and travel. Imprecise, free-flowing gestural strokes combine to form abstract landscapes that resemble loosely splayed flowers. The artist builds innumerable layers of translucent color to yield delicate, ethereal tonal effects over raw Belgian linen. Structurally, the artist renders compositions inspired from fleeting memories of places and moments experienced during extensive travels. By limiting mark-making to broad, loosely flowing movements, the resulting lack of contextual representation conveys a sense of ambiguity and universality. These intentionally vague abstract works straddle a space that feels both familiar and imagined, like a hazy daydream.
