A Look beyond the Surface
In “A Look Beyond the Surface” there is no pursuit of any motif but colour and abstract substance. And yet in most of the pictures the beholder can see clearly floral ornaments emerging from the background of the surface of colour, despite the primarily abstract attitude. Like in a fabric drapery, the foreground and the background melt and gear into each other. The brushstrokes are often barely detectable and the real life of the images seems to come from behind the painted exterior. It is all reflection, like a distant mirror, the surface is clean and intensely smooth and yet with a depth and structure beyond its two-dimensional frame.
