Penelope

Inspired by the indigenous peoples of Central America, expanding further to the populations of every place and time in the world. Collage of pieces of my previous works, torn and reassembled, mixing of the past with the present moment: figures of women dressed in their memories, represented to the point of abstraction, highlighting fabrics and decorations. Often portrayed while they work at their fabrics or baskets, carrying on a tradition of craft that becomes life: livelihood, self-awareness and freedom. The collage (the past) that make up these bodies, the chair on which they rest and which supports them, the fabric they create, are memories, knowledge, and possibilities, and that’s what happens in the artistic creative process as well.
