Utopia

There are 8 paintings of moorland, country views and one painting of figures stood within the landscape. Each figure is faceless, colourless and has certain degrees of fading and degradation. The fading human forms represent a weakening, a slow death and loss of control of the rural utopia. Before covid virus lockdown we desired an isolated utopian place in the country, now after lockdown we want to be back with others in the rural retreat. The colours of the painting – blue, green, yellow and brown represents the natural colours of an idyllic rural scene. The sky, land and water merge into an unending vista of ethereal beauty.
