Paintings
Painting is often spontaneous for me, especially when I work outside, en plain air. There are mature forests, rivers, lakes and a small pond within minutes. The experience of breathing fresh air, feeling the breezes, the sun and especially the bugs, brings an immediacy to creating. There is no time to study and prepare, but simply to paint.
Studio Painting is a more contemplative practice for me. Making a study of a subject or series of related subjects as I did in my Delectables collection requires long hours of observation. and discernment deciding how to best compose the painting to represent the story I want to tell.
