Perylene series

While peering through my array of colors I happened on a black called perylene (new black created in 1948). I had not used it often and decided to play. I changes its values and was amazed at its wide array of flexibility when added to either titanium or zinc white. After doing some research I found perylene came in several different colors. I decided to do a series based off of the perylene spectrums. I had been sketching and photographing Parisian stairwells for some time. I love thé form and lines they create. From here I began incorporating the two. What resulted, a large series of “Parisian staircases” in perylene black (green), red and violet. Several in the series include all three or two colors in on painting.
