Cinema
In Italy, cinema was very popular from the 50s to the 70s. Throughout the 70s, Italy made a lot of popular comedies, and Brazil made the pornochanchada comedy.
The popular comedy genre in Italy was hegemonic, defeating even Hollywood films. At the same time, the local market was plummeting as taste and public eyes turned to Hollywood. In the following two decades, the 80s and 90s, Italian cinema practically disappeared, restricting its menu to art films. Ettore Scola passionately took Italian cinema to international festivals, but was unable to reach the domestic market.
In more recent years, Italian cinema has begun to have its box office champions again, popular, national films, which currently fill Italian cinemas.
