Langhe
This collection explores the rural landscape of north-west Italy, in the region called Langhe. Pictures were taken in less populated areas.
The Langhe (Langa from old dialect Mons Langa et Bassa Langa) is a hilly area to the south and east of the river Tanaro in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont, northern Italy.
The area of Langhe is rich of traditions and legends and these photographs aim to explore what links remains of them in the contemporary rural landscape.
Still nowadays scholars are debating the meaning of the name “Langhe”. Some etymology experts claim that Langa would come from the word “Landa” indicating a wild, uninhabited land. Others claim that it is a word of Celtic origin which may mean “Lingua di terra=st
