SAN
Hanna Mi Kim's latest works revolve around embracing her korean heritage and her childhood memory of Korea through practice of Dansaek (korean monochrome painting)
Her childhood landscapes were minimal but ever-evolving through the seasons. Inspired by fields, clouds, sun, moon, clouds and space of her memory, she creates solid grounds of SAN by layering paints and carefully reveatling pattersn by removing the top layer.
The subtlety of hues and meditative , unpredictible process imbue the paintings with a quiet yet gounded quality, reminiscent of mountains. The process represents her discovery of her Korean roots and comforting energy to her artwork.
