Woodlands

Woodland imagery has always been an important theme in my artwork. As a child in Texas, I loved to climb up into the treetops where I found a sanctuary and refuge. I am attracted to the shapes of old trees; in their twisted limbs, their bumps and hollows I see manifest the enduring forces of gravity, water, light and wind. I find a reassurance in the perseverance of these trees which have withstood the ravages of time. I strive to create strong, powerful images which will inspire viewers to feel more aware of their place in the universe as an integral part this natural system which includes the material and immaterial.
