The Hero

The Hero Project "The Hero" examines the divide between appearance and behavior. Children believe that appearance is reality. A heroic appearance is the first step to being a super hero. Adults have real tattoos. I created these faux tattoos for the children to give the appearance of a tattoo rather than the reality of the tattoo. The project explores the line between appearances and reality that is so easily blurred whether in adults or children. Wars happen because we want to have heroes and we want to be heroes. The project was devoted exclusively to children because their psychological malleability can show us the origins of quixotic human activity that breeds hero worship and at the same time impels us to heroic behavior.
