The Island Beneath the Sea

This series of large paintings are an illustration of the book "The island beneath the sea" from international author Isabel Allende. As an artist based in Haiti I wanted to illustrate this book using different local materials and styles. All paintings are 52" x 52" x 4" on wood, with a wooden frame created by the artist. They all include metal work called "fer forgé" or "metal découpé", a typical haitian art and style. All pieces are covered with resin. This series will contain a total of 11 paintings (each representing a chapter of the book + 1 painting for the title).
