The Toast by Bram Tihany
mixed media art, composed of layers of photographs, manipulated from their original separate aesthetic into a singular cohesive image. Each image on its own represents a synthesis between conceptual elements of the restaurant’s design history, culinary styling, and name. Symbolising “rebirth”, the colossal sculpture in the center of the image depicts an earthly toast to good health and new beginnings. This idea is conveyed through Dionysian symbolism and a sculptural style drawing from stroboscopic photographic aesthetics and romantic painting traditions. Tihany’s influences for “The Toast” range from Rodin and Donatello’s mastery of sculpture, to compositional dynamism akin to Carracci and Bouguereau
