Vyshyvanka.Art

Vyshyvanka.Art is a project aimed to recreate the patterns of traditional Ukrainian embroidery (vyshyvanka) in a form of digital art. The traditions of vyshyvanka art in Ukraine are almost 1000 years old, its pattern and colors carry a deep symbolic meaning. It is the "artistic code" of the nation. In order to achieve realism during printing, the pattern is created from "embroidered pixels" measuring 20x20 pixels, which imitate the volume and shade of real embroidery. The digital artworks of the project are created on a unique PC studio based on the hobbyist-driven open-source Haiku operating system using the native BeOS/Haiku graphics editor WonderBrush.
