Woman and Flowers

This vibrant and thoughtful series of Woman and Flowers by Sandra Iafrate is inspired by classical art and literature shown with a unique and whimsical portrayal of gestures mixed with colorful and moving floral background. Each canvas painting shows a mix of pencil and charcoal portraiture contrasted by a vibrant rendition of Dutch florals. The paintings evolved from the narrative of George Bernard Shaw's play which was written to support the suffragette movement in the early 20th-Century, and to subtly influence his audience. The artist, Sandra Iafrate says she sees the woman as intelligent, confident and graceful yet always true to who she is.
