About The Artwork

This piece was inspired by March 11, 2015. This piece is a part of my daily collage series that I began in late 2012. I have created and shared one handmade collage for over 1,200 consecutive days. ++ The first part "What will be..." echos in the unified voice of a mass of strangers that you will never see again. Like a tiny consolation prize of wisdom that you never asked for, spoken only to make sense of the senseless. You half smile and nod while every ounce of your being prepares to explode. They begin to say what they always say next. You inhale, and you grow, and all at once everything changes. again.

I make sense of the world through my hands. In my recent body of work I’ve created and shared one handmade collage on social media every day since December of 2012. Collages are a tapestry of vaguely familiar images that have been set free from context and come together to create a moment that is freshly relevant in present. I collage to juxtapose images from our mass produced visual past in order to create daily thought provoking pauses in our lives. I’m influenced by our dependency on technology and the vast amount of visual stimuli we experience daily. Our interwoven cycle of connection to the virtual world and disconnection to the real world is unprecedented. As the internet continues to transform us culturally, its impact on us personally continues to shift. I create work that investigates the balance and implications of our personal and societal relationship with media and technology. My work explores concepts through an often humorous yet subversive tone. The hybridization of human, machine, and nature is of great interest to me. I often explore beauty standards and media’s fictionalization of the female body. I find freedom in expression and the commitment to collaging daily is a mindful practice in my life.
