Mark Satterlee was familiar working with these materials from years of repairing surfboards. Satterlee's works are assemblages compositing oil based paint and photographs on pigmented polyester resin and fiberglass.
In an era of rapid digital reproduction, each piece of Satterlee's work is truly unique and impossible to duplicate. A highly skilled artist working at the forefront of digital graphics for over two decades, the medium of fiberglas and polyester resin offered new challenges and discoveries with the use of unorthodox artistic materials. Recognizing numerous ways to exploit the combined mediums, Satterlee's early pieces have established precedent in a variety of applications including; painting with the pigmented resin, embedding of photography, and integration with organic materials. His latest work incorporate his love for polaroid photography by combining the photo emulsions from the instant print film into the fiberglass and resin.
Mark Satterlee is a self taught fine artist and motion picture Production Designer, and a member of the Art Directors Guild.
