Caught in the Act Collage

The basis for this collage is a sketch of a classmate in action. I have used old newspaper for the background as well as parts of the body, the chair and the easel. The grey paper underneath the layer of newspaper serves as the main tone of the figure whereas the applied ochre paper represents the figure’s shadows. In addition to Einstein’s head shot which I had cut from a newspaper article, I drew his torso and arm. I have used white, red and black tempera in combination with red and black markers for the purpose of developing a well-balanced composition.
