Chasing Triptych Collage

Unlike the other triptychs I have made, this work is much more specific in it's subject matter, relating to the fear connected to addiction and the chasing of the vice, whatever that may be. Most people who self medicate, a feeling of confusion and disconnect from the world around them causes them to find solutions, often outside of the legal medical institutions, and of course on the streets. When an individual finds temporary escape from their own demons, into a world that seems in focus and feel right a euphoric universe opens up to the individual. In Australia, in my own experience, the medical institution has gone very far in the direction of under medicating for patients with anxiety and depression. This is very much an over reaction to the looseness of the USA's chaotic over prescribing. Many people are left untreated and turn to illegal drugs. In Australia at the moment ice is the drug of choice for many poor souls who deserve to be treated properly by GPs. This triptych is my own fears on the subject. In these picture I have included sentences; specific feelings of despair whilst making the works.
