"Before the collapse" is a series of collages on paper where I compile a lot of free paper and started to experiment with processes related to the mass media production, Printers for example will shred all of their waste, big corporations will shred all of their sensitive materials, so I knew that there was something about these processes that had to be implemented in the works but I also wanted the viewer to be able to read images but presented in an overloaded manner, like interspersed, and so I started threading and weaving shredded images.

Australia
Born in 1979 in Mexico, have lived in the U.S.A., Spain and now in Australia. Being exposed to technology in an exponential manner allowed me to witness the drastic alteration of our lifestyles and the sudden rise of our new cyber worlds and identities. My art results fall in the intersection of figurative and abstract, constantly obsessed with the possibility of making visible the intangible. I have been producing art since 1999: exploring various themes such as sexuality, spirituality, our relationship with nature and death. I have been producing collages on paper for various reasons: paper represents ancient cultures and for centuries now the triumph of our civilization, it is also a practical and simple material that enables the creation of images whilst more importantly consolidating time and space as a unique physical document. I have collect and recycle materials because these practices speak about the saturation and overconsumption representative of our times, all this paper and plastic will then shape figures and images that attempt to materialise this overload, the homogenisation and convergence of world trends and the complexity of our emerging status as internet mutants. Most recent works are sculptures made from recycled plastic and are inspired by everyday people; the next step is to giving the sculptures mechanised, robotic skeletons. I am also an experienced Art Director and I'm currently collaborating on video art projects with Sissy Reyes under the name of PURPLE MOUSTACHO. www.purplemoustacho.portfoliobox.io
