A collaged exploration of Eurydice In Purgatory. Eurydice from Greek Mythology. Eurydice, wife of Orpheus dies of a snake bike. A distraught Orpheus played and sang such mournful tunes the nymphs and gods heard his sorrow and allowed him to go and retrieve his wife from the underworld. This was providing that when he finds her and leads her to the world of the living, he does not look back and see her face until they are in daylight. Just as they reached the portals of Hades he turned to gaze at her face and Eurydice, having not crossed the threshold was drawn back into the underworld.

I am a visual artist, based in Glasgow working with experimental film, sound & collage. My practice explores deconstruction and reconstruction. I am interested in contemporary culture and it’s relationship with the archaic past and I strive to construct imagery which distorts but also unites the two. I attempt to explore the parallels between modern-day perceptions and our antecedent nostalgias as well as the prevalence of nature and landscape running through both. Working primarily with collage and film, shifting forms warp our sense of reality in a way which engages gesture, image sequence, material affect, and displaced narrative.
