About The Artwork
The desperate longing for tactile beauty and deeply rooted need humans have for nostalgia are the themes of my latest series of work. The use of bespoke items from the past, worn by time and thrown away– repurposed chains, jewelry, old charms and beads- ensure these beautiful components and remnants of memories past are locked in place forever, never to be forgotten or marred by time. I have always loved taking old, thrown away items and found objects and making them into something new and beautiful/different/thought provoking. The pieces in this series are meant to spark that nostalgic part of all of us.

Sara Sandler is a mixed media artist based in New York. Sara has been creating her mixed media pieces and constructions for over 25 years. Graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with a BFA in Painting and Photography, she went on to have a long career in the fashion industry, while painting and showing her work throughout the country, as well as making commissioned pieces for private clients. The use of found objects, old jewelry, fabric and other repurposed items is central to her work and aids in her exploration of stepping back into the past and freezing time. Sara’s work has been shown in galleries throughout the US including New York City, Montclair, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Saugerties and St. Louis.
