Maria Vetkalova is a Contemporary Collage Artist, most known for creating and selling unique artworks using specifically VOGUE magazines as a medium. Born, raised and currently based in Moscow, her particular visual language of evocative works is inspired by nature, organic shapes, and looks like a floral pattern. 'I love to create patterns that tell stories through hand-cut elements of VOGUE. Their details, textures, smooth lines are like music for me - a universal language that is able to connect with like-minded souls all over the world without saying a word.' Why VOGUE? "I wanted to be inspired by something that was already inspiring, to take something of a value, something that’s out of ordinary, and add something beautiful to it.” For me VOGUE - is a form of artwork itself, best in terms of artistic and technical quality. Each page is like a moment in time in history of a certain era, contemporary culture, modern fashion. Medium itself becomes an inspiration and turns to be more than just a color palette. Recycled Beauty. Each element of collage is made out of hand cut pages from Vogue magazine. In a digital era paper magazines might be gone in near future. I wanted to save the creative energy that was already put into magazine, recycle it, transform, give it a new life and share contemporary Russian culture in a form of artwork with viewers all over the world. VOGUE is about style, contemporary culture,  remarkable individuality. They produce unique pieces and offer viewers the ultimate dream. We match pretty well I guess.
