Pink Red Post-it Collage

Unlike with my cooler coloured Blue Post-it collages inspired by David Hockney’s Californian swimming pool artworks with the frozen-in-time splashes of water spouting into the air after a diver has disappeared under the surface, this hotter pink-red collage is more earthy and a reminder of fire, flames, lava, steam… again coinciding with finding in my scrap-box a small booklet of coloured papers whose cover read, “Paper - Fall Solids / 2” x 3” (5 cm x 7.6 cm) / 100 sheets” and provided me with an idea to use the two warm colours, pinkish terracotta, red - 20 sheets of each - and smear them with red, yellow and white acrylics using screwed-up tissue paper as an application tool in order to create ‘accidental marks’ on the small papers before reassembling them in a random sequence, starting from bottom-left, with no visual decision over which piece to pick except to keep a subtle checkerboard tonal pattern for the composition. Approximate image size 18 x 28cm on 24 x 38 white cartridge paper backing suitable for framing under glass with or without passe-partout or beveled mat overlay.
