In 2016 I was commissioned to make a piece of work which was to be used as an Irish postage stamp, commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Irish mailboat RMS Leinster, which was struck by a torpedo fired from a German U-boat. Although overshadowed by the more famous Titanic and Lusitania tragedies, the sinking of RMS Leinster remains the worst maritime disaster to have occurred in Irish waters. I eventually produced a series of 13 paintings of the ship, this being an example of RMS Leinster before tragedy struck.
