Joanne Proctor lives and works in Northern Ireland. She received her BA Honours in Fine and Applied Art from the University of Ulster, Belfast School of Art in 2008. Proctor's art practice explores concepts of nature and human identity, created through intricate and repetitive working processes. Whilst utilising the needle as a drawing tool, she often uses her own hair as a material which is hand sewn into paper or canvas, incorporating aspects of her own body in her work. Proctor has participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout Ireland, UK, Italy and US. Her most recent group exhibition titled 'Bristle: Hair and Hegemony' curated by Roisin Kennedy, Niamh McGuinne and Aoife Ruane, will be held at the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda, Ireland 8 July - 23 September 2017
