For this collage I took a photo in the Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece. The original is a funerary statue, a “Siren”, lamenting the dead, found in Kerameikos, Athens. It dates from 330-320 BC. I was so fascinated by the beauty of this Siren, that I wanted to give it new life in my collage. To bring it from the museum to contemporary art, to rediscover, to reframe. I attached a photo of the original, and I really prefer the new head-only photo. The Greek Mythology always fascinated me, as a child until now. So it is a main theme in my collages and assemblages. From Achilles to Hera to the Siren. The collages is made of photos I worked on digitally, changing the colors, printing them. Than I glues the photos on a canvas, used spray paint and as a finish epoxy resin. I love Pop Art, I want to make Greek art, classical art available to all in a modern way. Inspired by Andy Warhol as well as Greek sculptors. And I love colors, I love to collage, to find new perspectives, new styles, news aspects in “old” art. IMPORTANT: None of my artwork is perfect, they are organic, there are drops of paint, tears in the paper, waves, glue residues. They are original!
