VIEW IN MY ROOM
The 70's spirit, a bit of humour, daring colors : this is what came to my mind when I found the portrait of the young Steve Jobs. I started by selecting the main colours (orange and brown, which are typical from this era) and then I looked for a background that could match the main area of the character. Hick's hexagons were absolutely perfect to match both the 70's typical paperwall and the IT field: indeed, with the perfect colours, they almost look like printed circuit boards. Of course, since we are talking about Apple founder, I couldn't help to put here and there subtle emblematic logos. Talking about commmercial, what are you thinking about when think about Apple? The motto! But his famous and universal position, helped me to decided just to reduce it to just one word: think. And yes, getting closer to the picture, you can realize that I used only color paper, scalpel (and glue) to create this original realistic picture. No paint. Why? Because since I've tried them, I'm addicted. I find them challenging, surprising, and difficult. But the unique result worths it, doesn't it?

What could be called "paper cutting art", I've discovered it by chance, in 2005, when I was trying to find out why I've never really got interested in collage before. I realized that I could only associate collage with surrealism, abstraction but never with realism. I thought about a way to create a realistic picture just with color paper, a scalpel and glue. Within a few months, I improved a lot my technique before focusing rather on my job and discovering the world. In 2016, after years of travelling or working in different places from New Zealand to South America, teaching beauty and cosmetiques from beauty school to prison, I feel now ready to get back to my old passion and share it with the world.
