1985, Santiago de Chile. Also known as Asma Brath. Since 2007 i have been working on making collages of different formats and techniques, both digital and analogous, particularly using the concept of fragmentation, which is usually defined as the separation of a whole or the loss of a unit by the division into irregular parts of a kind of puzzle, the artist re-organize the pieces in the space to give a new meaning to the image. During this creative process, chance plays a fundamental role, as when a vase is broken into a thousand different pieces: although we try to reconstruct it incessantly, piece by piece, something has changed and it is no longer possible to return it to its original form, something new. A mysterious and indecipherable mechanism has turned the object into something else, whose functionality could be appreciated only in the realm of art, not in the daily routine. In the selection that involves the exercise of taking a segment of the real world to introduce it to the world of art, it is possible to observe the implicit beauty of the images of interest and, at that key moment, arises the doubt, the risk that involves the sacrifice Of that beauty, but then the fear of the desired object and the fear of destroying it disappear. They are images from magazines of banal or insubstantial appearance, a series of varied cuts, that mix nature with humanity violently and succumb to the mind faster than the eye, creating landscapes of confusion, strangeness and disturbance of perception. Cinema manipulates the minds of spectators, being a game in which both sides are participants. The spectator is installed from a playful perspective before the product of the assembly. Likewise, collage pieces require the viewer to mentally complete the image and fill in the missing spaces.
