About The Artwork
Inspired by a story of a lonely princess who lived on an island surrounded by sea and never aged. She is shown as a wistful, beautiful young woman who waits by the seaside for rescue from the island. Xanthe appealed to me as someone who had no control over her fate but was always hopeful of a rescue from her lonely island. I used collage as it is a favourite medium and adds dimension to my paintings. I try and blend my lace, beads and flowers into my work and enjoy working with found items rather than just the paint making the affects. Hanging hardware is included as D rings and nylon and cotton blend string.

I live in Kinross in Western Australia and I am a mainly a self-taught artist. Working mostly in oils and acrylics recently I have been dabbling in collage and montage with paint and found objects. I sell my work at The Artisan Store in Fremantle, West Australia and also by contact with myself in Perth. I wrote and illustrated two childrens books in 1986 and 1989 when living in Victoria published by Greenhouse and Penguin Publishers - The Bend in the River and Mischief at Muddy Bend. I have sold my artwork worldwide over 30 years. My last exhibition was at Little Creatures in Fremantle in 2015.
