About The Artwork
The figure represented in this work is a male, yet stylized, revealing some gender ambiguity. He exhibits himself as a work of art, decorated with various military honors, giving expression to the condition and status of this figure: a high ranking military figure or a king, such as a contemporary Louis XIV. He gazes onto the construction of a female body, formed by various types of identities. Behind him lay different fragments of male faces; expressions; bodies. The main theme revolves around the relationship between power and sexuality. It is also present the concept of voyeurism - the inclusion of different binoculars, creating an emphasis on a hidden desire (seeing without being seen); from the distance, safely, without commitment. This captures our social and personal reality.
