About The Artwork
I began this work with a detailed drawing of the patio space. The drawing was made from life as the sun was casting a strong shadow across the space. This work is about the familiar represented in a colorful and playful way. The process of making this work is physical and the surface of the work reflects this. The surface is built up from very small pieces of paper glued together to assemble shapes and contours.

Katie is an artist based in Philadelphia. Originally from NJ, Katie lived in Louisiana for five years. During that time, she received her Master's in Fine Arts from Louisiana State University. Her work has been exhibited across the country, including Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans, the Louisiana State Museum, Arkansas Art Center, Cambridge Art Association, and Practice Gallery in Philadelphia. She currently teaches at Drexel University, Moore College of Art and Design, and Fleisher Art Memorial of Philadelphia.
