This work is a collage of Japanese Izumo Mingei mitsumata and katazomi, Korean hanji, and Nepalese lokta papers on cradled maple art panel. The frame is made of unfinished maple wood and is removable, no glass. All the paper is affixed using an acid-free photo mount spray to prevent color and texture changes. A water-based fixative has been applied to the finished piece to protect from dust and moisture. Victory Over the Sun is named after an ill-fated Futurist opera. It was created by M.Matyushin and A.Kruchenykh in 1913 and K.Malevich worked as the set designer. This was the first time Malevich painted his Black Square on a stage curtain.
