About The Artwork

This face I created by first seeing an image of a woman. I absorb the image, then let it go and create 'my own person'. When I finish she tells me what her emotion is, sometimes as a surprise for me too. In her face I see 'wondering why', 'questionning' and 'looking at the world with amazement'. The painting is made on wood which adds an interesting structure to it and is a like a drawing underneath. The papers I used for collage are transparent and lace-like papers. The lines are painted directly and intuitively. I like to use the combination of warm (also gold paint) and cold tones as the are like 'light and shadow'. The painting is 20x20 cm. The frame is part of the artwork and is 31x31x2 cm. The artwork is protected with silk varnish.

Artist ART Eva Maria -------------------------------------- SOURCE OF INSPIRATION "Looking at people's faces and trying to figure out how they feel and what they think - that is my source of inspiration. This mysterious aspect fascinates me. Afterwards I will tell my own story - in colours and lines - about these people using various visual tools." -------------------------------------- I see nature (both landscapes and faces) as a gift that shows itself to me. I'm trying to catch the feeling that's inside of me, while being an observator. -------------------------------------- Showing the reality is not important, it's my personal impression and emotion that I wish to communicate. This is a very intuitive process during which my hand glides on paper or canvas. This way I am able to tell my own story in layers, colours and lines. Afterwards the art is not mine anymore and open to other people's eyes, making new stories as well. I'm always searching for new ways for my art (small to large sizes, different techniques) to travel and show themselves to public.
