About The Artwork
This work is made from thin, cedar slats that have been carefully charred and oiled. The title is inspired by T.S.Eliot's poem "East Coker," from "The Four Quartets". I live and work on the coast and at dawn, on the day I started this work, T S Eliot's words came back to me as I watched the sun emerge from the ocean... "Dawn points, and another day Prepares for heat and silence. Out at sea the dawn wind Wrinkles and slides. I am here Or there, or elsewhere. In my beginning."
