Born June 6th,1979 in Aviles, Asturias Spain, it is from here where his art career began. For the past seven years he has been living in Bali, Indonesia. Here he continues his exploration of new artistic narratives through mixed media. After completing his studies in Fine Arts and doctorate in sculpture, he worked for ten years in advertising and television with renowned companies as Mediapro, Zeppelin , Bainet and Globomedia strengthening his understanding of the commercial arts. Concurrently, during this period, Cesar began to explore new artistic narratives, creating a series of work and exhibitions based upon the elements surrounding him. LInescapes resulted from this. His work is a hybrid of sculpture and mixed media applied on canvas and constructed in various forms of installations. This body of work seeks to rediscover the different fields of joint geometry, bringing together its mathematical and artistic visions in an organic method . Various surfaces and materials such as wire, fiberglass, hand spun thread and canvas are used in an attempt to achieve this exploration. Linescapes The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. César Fernandez, elegantly and effectively, uses this minimalist yet all-encompassing mandate, as the primordial and absolute idea behind his fluid language. His trademark would have to be in carefully achieving pieces that project balance and purpose while retaining soft translucent properties overlayed with a wholly accessible beauty. César works with the simplicity of a line to generate evocative, intriguing installations and linear compositions. He combines four elements; point, line, geometry, and space, into a visual statement that leaves you understanding the concept that less is more. works conjure up the illusion that the cosmos, stars and the universe are part of our more intimate nature, as if the pictorial plane was a mental map where he creates an emotional geography based on mere symmetries and tensions. In this installation of works, César set out to immerse you, the observer, into his aesthetic world. Using a variety of mediums and media ranging from his signature sewn thread canvases coated with resins, and surfboards designed and glassed by the artist for the express purpose of this project.
