Cyriopagopus lividus is a living example of the inherently beautiful color palette available in biodiversity, and can be found in the exotic pet trade if you ask for "Cobalt Blue". Mostly nocturnal and reclusive, this tarantula species rarely leaves its burrow - with the exception to hunt or mate - making any encounter with one in the wild exponentially more special.

I'm mostly self taught and work on drawings inspired by my love for animals while limiting myself to materials that fit securely in my bag. I enjoy challenging myself with new mediums as time and space allow, and some day I'll learn to play with oil on canvas. My formal education, military training and life experience helped validate my childhood compulsion to keep a small notebook, pen, and pencil on hand. Sketching dinosaurs and reading detective novels as a child allowed me to focus my creativity towards the service of others as an adult, and I eventually helped create, implement, conduct, and lead Active Shooter Response Training for the United States Air Force while stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After retiring from the Armed Forces I was fortunate to continue my passion for helping others by managing various Security Programs for a growing BioPharmaceutical company in Cambridge, MA, who invested heavily in their core values and commitment to patients with rare diseases. I currently split my time between assisting my beautiful and hilarious wife with diaper changes and midnight feedings for our newborn son while sharing my skills and passions with my 11 year old son as I help guide him on his journey towards discovering his own. When all are fed and happy, I continue completing my most recent Degree Program in Philosophy through the University of Massachusetts (Boston Campus), with a Minor in Classical Studies. I'm deeply inspired by the Humanities and driven by my passion and experience in Education, Security, and Investigations. I love analyzing nature and history to connect the dots and identify recurring themes when they pop up, with the hope of helping others (and myself) better understand the common ground that connects us all as we each journey through our own version of the Human Condition.
