About The Artwork

May 2, 1945, Ezra Pound was arrested by Italian partisans, and taken (according to Hugh Kenner) “to their HQ in Chiavari, where he was soon released as possessing no interest.” The next day, he turned himself in to U.S. forces. He was incarcerated in a United States Army detention camp outside Pisa, spending 25 days in an open cage before being given a tent. Here he appears to have suffered a nervous breakdown. While in the camp he drafted the Pisan Cantos, a section of the work in progress which marks a shift in Pound’s work, being a meditation on his own and Europe’s ruin and on his place in the natural world. The Pisan Cantos won the firstBollingen Prize from the Library of Congress in 1948.

Tony’s paintings and prints have been featured in galleries in New York, Chicago, Washington and LA — and can be found in museums in Greece, Italy and The USA. Anthony Rubino, Jr., was born in New Jersey to a first-generation, Italian-American, Roman Catholic family. And then, felt guilty about it. And they ask him why he drinks. Combining his strengths; humor, art and comics, he found his calling in the study of drivel. His latest book, “You Can’t Scare Him He’s A Parent” is a collection of his interna- tionally syndicated comic strip “Daddy’s Home.” His book “Why Didn’t I Think Of That? 101 Inventions That Changed The World By Hardly Trying,” was released is now an internationally syndicated, weekly column in the UK and other English-speaking countries. It’s also in it’s third printing having been re- leased under another title in The UK, Sweeden, Australia and The Netherlands. A third version has been translated into Italian and released last summer. Never a big stickler for math, Tony wrote, “Life Lessons from Your Dog” as the fifth installment of his Life-Lessons book trilogy, which includes “Life Lessons from Your Cat,” “Life Lessons from Elvis (the English version was translated and released in Fin- land as well),” “Life Lessons from the Bradys,” and “Life Lessons from Melrose Place.” Before that he displayed his steely work ethic by penning, “1001 Reasons to Procrasti- nate.” His fear of being inconvenienced by eternal damnation is reflected in his recent tome, “Get Into Heaven: Or Your Money Back.” Along the way Tony has contributed his articles and cartoons to publications such as: Will Ferrell’s “Funny Or Die,” website, MAD Magazine, Cracked, National Lampoon, and the Chicago Tribune. Tony is the creator of the Internationally Syndicated Comic Strip, “Daddy's Home” which appears in more than 250 newspapers and websites and is seen by 26 million people every day. “Daddy’s Home” is a fresh and funny look at the contemporary trials and tribulations of a growing segment of the modern family dynamic -- the stay at home dad. Tony’s designs, comics and words can also be found on greeting cards and other product lines such as calendars, posters, and apparel sold in stores and catalogs worldwide. When not working on his writing and art in New York City he spends his time not working on his writing and art in New York City. Check out, www.rubinocreative.com for more information."
