About The Artwork
I made this work a few days after we returned from the hospital after the birth of my daughter. It was the first time that she held my thumb and it was such a powerful feeling that I will never forget. I thought it may connect with others that have also felt that connection. I decided to be close enough to lose sight of the hand but not too close where the shapes would lose familiarity. The impact of big color has a hold on me and I felt it was needed for this moment to translate.
