About The Artwork

Katsuo-ji Temple is tucked away in Osaka, Japan, where legend has it is where winners get their luck. What’s intriguing about Katsuo-ji is that the temple and its grounds are strewn with innumerable dolls tucked into every nook and cranny. The quirky dolls were modeled after the founder of Zen Buddhism who apparently sat so long in meditation that his arms and legs fell off. Hence the dolls’ round shape. The ones at this temple are called kachi-Daruma, meaning "winning Daruma". This piece is inspired by the Katsuo-ji Temple and it's dolls. Each print has a 0.5-inch white border for framing and will be printed on fine art paper. Your print will be produced to the highest standards, proofed, checked, and pack-rolled in a tube. It comes with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, which guarantees your print is a single-edition work of art.

I am an American artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. My background is in graphic design, so I love the interplay between colors, shapes, and textures. Finding a balance between these design principles is the foundation for any piece of art I create. Everywhere I look, I see things that inspire me, especially in architecture, nature, and popular culture. The smallest of details can be the spark for an idea. My artistic process starts when I take various images into a digital format and collage them together to create the final composition. My goal with every piece is to create art that is beautiful, unique, and thought-provoking. Life is short, time is fast, no replay, no rewind, so enjoy every moment as it comes.
