About The Artwork

I created this abstract piece using digital tools and brushes on my ipad, which means I have the wonderful ability to express whatever comes into my head without fear of "making a mistake", a fear common to all artists. I can scribble, paint, draw, rub out, to my heart's content, so the finished piece is a cumulation of many hours of free expression and gestural markmaking. I hope that the spontaneity and liberation I feel when creating these works is evident to the viewer, and that they can appreciated the joy I experience throughout the process. Printed as a one of a kind artwork on 300gsm Breathing Color fine art paper, using archival pigment inks, my work will retain it's color for over 100 years if kept out of direct sunlight.

Anne Dillon is a New Zealand artist living in the small rural village of Cust, in the South Island. Anne's work is experimental and exploratory and as a result she creates a diverse range of artworks. Her work has been exhibited and collected internationally and she was one of only eight artists world-wide to feature in the Museum of Digital Fine Arts' Summer exhibition 2015. Primarily a digital artist, her work contains elements of her original photography and paintings as well as found images from the internet. Layering her work over and over results in a digital collage with depth and interest. More recently, digital paintings have been her preferred medium, created on her ipad. Several of her pieces have shown at the Saatchi Gallery in London on their second floor screen, and as well as group and solo shows in New Zealand, she has exhibited in the USA and Australia. She has also sent commissioned works to New York.
