About The Artwork

Visions of Newport : Cubist Coastal Montage. Boathouse, sail, and sea, Dreams in vibrant harmony, Newport's soul set free. Step into the dynamic world of Newport on the Isle of Wight through this captivating Cubist montage. Seamlessly blending traditional landscapes with contemporary abstraction, this artwork offers a fresh perspective on the coastal beauty of Newport. In this digital hybrid ink and line style composition, the scene unfolds in a mesmerizing display of fragmented perspectives. The old boathouse stands as a symbol of maritime history, its weathered facade depicted with bold lines and geometric forms. Marshlands stretch outwards, their organic shapes juxtaposed against the angular lines of the boardwalk, leading the viewer on a visual journey through the scene. A sailing boat gracefully navigates the waters, its monochrome form resting quietly in a still inlet. In the distance, the vast expanse of the sea stretches towards the horizon, hinting at the boundless possibilities of the coastal landscape. Through a masterful interplay of light, colour, and form, this artwork invites viewers to explore the rich textures, abstract plant forms, historical wooded structures, and hidden depths of Newport's surroundings. Whether admiring the intricate details up close or stepping back to take in the scene as a whole, this Cubist montage offers a unique and immersive experience of Newport on the Isle of Wight.

I help bring interest to interior spaces through creative and dramatic fine art pictures. I have been a creator all my life from a childhood with construction toys and later as a professional engineer. Having been gifted my first camera in 1969, I have maintained an interest in photography since then, studying the subject more seriously in recent years. I specialise in capturing ordinary subjects and making them extra ordinary using closeups, lighting, colour or editing to help create mood, inspiration, or interesting talking points. I have a passion for taking time to notice the natural beauty that surrounds us, from the depths of space to the small creatures sharing our lives. In my work I try to encourage the viewer to see the ‘everyday’ in a new light by emphasising the extraordinary nature of its complexity or including it an arrangement to suggest an idea or a concept.
