People find rats cute due to their small size, expressive faces, and social behaviors resembling those of humans. Presenting rats in human-like situations like these two occupants of a sports car may stem from anthropomorphism, where we attribute human traits to animals, making them relatable and endearing. This helps bridge the gap between species and evokes empathy. Such depictions also entertain and challenge conventional perceptions, leading to a fresh perspective on these creatures. Overall, it's a combination of their innate cuteness and our tendency to humanize them that makes rat portrayals in human scenarios appealing and engaging.

I am Luxembourg-born scientific illustrator and artist living in Hanover, Germany. For a couple of decades I was a copywriter for Honeywell Bull, Nokia and Siemens. Then I slowly slipped into computer graphics. I specialized in illustrating molecules and fullerenes for a long time. In 1988 I received a recognition of the Prix Ars Electronica for my graphic "Funnel". In 2023 I started doing AI illustrations. I live together with my partner Elke Leger, my favorite photo subject, and a turtle named George.
