About The Artwork

This design is my abstract interpretation of my favourite places on the globe...Shelly Beach in Manly, NSW. I have spent so many mornings watching the sunrise over it's headland and swimming towards its shores. I am always in awe of the natural beauty around this place and it holds a lot of beautiful memories. I would hope the viewer can enjoy the aesthetic of colours and form as well as get a sense of the experience I have attempted to convey.

I was born and bred in Georgia, USA where I lived until I moved to Sydney in 2006. Art and creativity have always been an undercurrent in my life. My parents founded and currently run an international art-paint manufacturing business. I also owned a small art business in America for six years, Addison Art + Design (AA+D), which is named after my only son. The majority of the art projects at AA+D were specializing in interior artwork; murals and faux finishing. I also collaborated with interior decorators and homewares shops to create bespoke artworks including hand-painted furniture, ceramics and original paintings. Since moving to Sydney, I have continued to create art on canvas and have exhibited in art shows, as well as attending courses at Enmore Design School and The National Art School. My art is varied both in medium and subject; personally, I enjoy the adventure of exploring and change, and this is evident in my portfolio of work. Strong influences that have dictated themes in my art have been the Australian flora and fauna, seaside living, clean lines, vibrant colour and contrasting hues, the relationship between colours and the desire to transport the viewer to a memory or imagination. I want my paintings to embody the feeling of being on holiday and all the things associated - dining alfresco, time with friends, daydreaming, glowing sunrises, sandy sunsets, boozy long lunches, ocean breezes, salty skin, warm nights, chatting around an emptied dinner table with friends, laughing, talking, confiding and making memories. Bold and often contrasting colours, geometric shapes and patterns in an array of mediums, including acrylic and wax, highly textured and heavy bodied finishes are my signature. I gravitate towards large scale pieces - striking, minimalistic, contemporary, minimal but sophisticated. My digital designs have been applied to a range of surfaces including textiles, canvas, fine art prints, papers, furniture, floors and walls.
