About The Artwork

'The Wait' is a conceptual photography piece. The original shot of the McAlpine building was photographed on a trip in Miami. It's been reframed, reworked with multiple photographic details to recreate a unique composition. The colour grading is a nod to the past with a fine grain effect applied to give it a cool nostalgic vintage feel. The digital artwork file is for sale and would be sent via an online transfer and on USB if required too. If this option is purchased you would have full ownership of the image and no other prints would be available for sale.

Brooko aka Paul Brookes is a contemporary collage artist heralding from the Birmingham area. From a career in advertising as an Art Director/Designer he stepped into the art world where he has the freedom to create playful visual stories mainly through the illustrative medium of collage. His work is inspired and influenced by mainly artists with a more graphic styling to their works like Peter Blake, Saul Bass, Richard Hamilton, Hockney, Toulouse-Lautrec, Warhol, Hitchcock and the movements of Pop art, Dadaism and photography. Another key inspiration is the nostalgic imagery from the 40’s to the 60’s from the culture to films, tv series, books, posters and typography. He loves the beautiful aesthetic of the works of those era’s where he feels it has a kind of romantic and timeless feeling to them. Through the lens of imagination, Brooko carefully orchestrates a symphony of colours, textures, and imagery. His commitment to storytelling is evident in the intricate details and meticulous arrangement of each collage, resulting in a collection that beautifully captures the essence of nostalgia.
