This work was inspired by everything in everyday life, whether it be a cup of tea or a rooster crowing first thing in the morning. Delicious fruit or a cheeky prawn maybe even a toy from childhood. I chose a simple background to enhance the detail in the hat, suddenly your eye is drawn down to her face and her eyes especially which draw you in to the picture.

Born in South Africa. Raised in the foot-hills of Kwazulu Natal, a very rural and natural upbringing close to wildlife and local traditions. Studied at art school Durban and then fashion design at Tshwane University of technology. Went on to study medical illustration which has had a profound influence on my work which is mostly figurative / realism. Pen and ink illustrations in excruciating detail. Inspiration comes from everything, studying people especially. who are appreciated as subject matter with a contempory twist. we love a little humour, a bit of the macabre and surprize.
