About The Artwork

'Points in Space: Accretion Discs' is a new series of drawings on black paper. Hand drawn points and lines develop into mysterious patterns and forms within a circle reminiscent of looking through t microscope or telescope, inspired by natural formations in the microcosmic and macrocosmic worlds.

clintfulkerson.com Curiosity in natural processes drives me to make art. I see geometry everywhere I look in Nature and by drawing simple geometric tessellations on paper I feel like I can start to reverse engineer the patterns I see as I wander along the coast and woods of Maine. I do not try to mimic what I see, I investigate to gain insight into the fractal logic of growth and create new worlds on flat planes of paper or canvas. I set up hierarchical rules for each drawing or painting and let the process determine the outcome, and tweak the results as I go, in a feedback loop.
