Driving through a National Park after recent bushfires you see small outcrops of new plant growth. It is quite beautiful to see nature regenerating. Many native plants require the bushfires for the seeds to be dispersed and new growth to begin. This mixed media work on paper was inspired by natural cycle of regrowth. The blue green background is often what you see around large areas of Eucalyptus trees. The colour seems to envelop you. It is in fact the fine oil droplets of Eucalyptus in the air. I love doing this kind of semi abstract work with a variety of materials, it is an absolute joy to work on this scale and with such freedom of expression . The work is produced on Italian Fabriano drawing paper 200gsm. Due to the nature of ink, watercolour and pastel used , the paper does have some buckling and rough edges. It shows all the energy used to produce it , however It will travel well in a postal tube . My recommendation is to have the work professionally mounted and framed .

There hasn't been a time in my life where I have not loved and practised art. Childhood days were filled with drawing- many I have kept and still have now. Visits to the Art Gallery were rare in my childhood yet I do remember always being intrigued and drawn to the portraits. Faces fascinated me then and they still do now. Working in a sales environment for many years , but always participating in Art workshops or evening courses before finally taking the leap and studying for A Fine Arts Diploma, completed in two phases whilst raising a family . During the last decade, many as a Market Stall holder, I have sought and obtained over 50 Pet Portraits commissioned paintings, plus many other subjects. Painting pets has been very rewarding but the element that has been missing is the human one. My goal is to now paint more figurative artworks, however the pets are never very far away in many of these compositions . Recently I exhibited in a 3 person show at The Incinerator Art Space. The exhibition was initiated by myself and organised by all 3 exhibitors. The experience was quite different and wonderful from other group shows I had previously participated in. Sitting in the gallery to welcome visitors and the opportunity to talk to interested art patrons was fabulous.
